My grandmother sold her 1966 Chevrolet Nova SS (327/300HP) and ordered a 1984 Chevrolet S-10 Blazer Sport new in 1984. She drove it for about 100,000 miles before deciding that she no longer wanted to drive.

I have been around the Blazer since it was ordered -- I remember Dad bringing home the literature on ordering it -- and have been in, around, and under it ever since. It was one of the first vehicles I ever helped maintain, and one of the first "real" paint jobs I did when I repainted the tailgate. I was very proud when my grandmother decided to sell it to me.

I intend to do some work to it, since it has a few flaws, but for the most part I intend to leave it stock and drive it. It will do a fine job as a daily driver, and Julia's car seat will fit in the back seat just fine!

Upgrades and repairs:

• New, upgraded rear brakes -- page for this coming soon
• New tires -- BF Goodrich Traction TA in 215/65-15
• New shock -- Monroe SensaTracs
• New sound system:
  • Pioneer DEH-P4600MP AM/FM/CD/MP3 player
  • Kenwood KFC-1069S 4" 2-way Speakers up front
  • Kenwood KFC-6979ie 6"x9" 3-way Speakers out back
• New weatherstripping -- only missing one piece above the tailgate

A list of to-dos, both repair and upgrades:

• Fix the small rust on it
• The interior needs carpet and new door panel trim
• I'd like to add a tilt column
• I'd like to add cruise control
• The 2.8V6 in it is in really good shape. I'll probably go TBI and otherwise leave it alone
• The 700-R4 in it is also in really good shape. I'll probably add a drain plug to the pan, and I might add an external filter and/or cooler, but that's it.
• I'd like to install a Zexel-Torsen differential. Zexel + snow tires means fun in the snow!
